Hackney Community College
Hackney Community College is a Further Education College based in the heart of Hoxton.
The College offers a range of full and part-time courses for school leavers and adults, as well as flexible opportunities for employers to train their staff. The main centre is Shoreditch campus, in the heart of Hoxton – also home to and workplace of fashion designers, stylists, photographers, publishers, new-media companies, film-makers, and musicians - with over 50 other venues across the borough.
The College graduates some 9,000 students - aged 14 to 99 - each year.
The Cooks have supported the College for many years.
More recently the Cooks have supported the establishment of Hackney’s London City Hospitality Centre.
The 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games has inevitably increased the demand for qualified hospitality professionals. LCHC is ideally located and involved in the training for that event, as well as for the hospitality industry and the cooking profession more widely.
‘Open Kitchen’ is their onsite training bar and restaurant - open to the public - and opened in March 2009 by Paul Rankin.
